Release Notes 6.8

Lantronix is pleased to announce version 6.8 for the Local Manager and Control Center. This document covers LMOS version 6.8 and all subsequent patch sub-releases. Changes made in patch releases are marked with the version number.

Release Summary

  • Upgrade Support: 6.5.x, 6.6.x and 6.7.x
  • Product: Local Manager (LM) and Control Center (CC)
  • Models: LM4, LM80/LM83X, Virtual LM
    The 500 and 5000 are not supported. Those models are EOL.

Lantronix Local Manager

New Features

  • USB-A ports can now directly manage devices
    • If a supported serial device is detected, a port will be added to the CLI.
    • LM4 will add port 1/5 (top) and 1/6 (bottom). LM80/LM83X will add port 1/9.
  • Cisco Advanced Driver: support Viptela SD-WAN devices
  • Cisco Advanced Drvier: support push vlan.dat and config recovery on IE3400
  • Juniper Advanced Driver: support configuration recovery
  • Support "layer 4" port criteria for IP Filters
    • IP Filters now accept port number and protocol (TCP/UDP) as filter criteria
  • Support Multitech MTCM-L1G2D-B03 external USB modem
  • Better support for Lantronix M113F00FS external USB modem
    • auto detect, pull tech, outband on
  • Support StarTech v.92 (CX93001 V92) external USB modem
  • Send LLDP advertisements over all Ethernet ports

Improvements

  • Updated Linux Operating System for Security Patches
    • glibc CVE-2023-* patches
  • Support additional SSH HMACs
    • hmac-sha2-256-etm@openssh.com, hmac-sha2-512-etm@openssh.com

Bug Fixes

  • LM4: fix for IKEv2 VPN connections
  • Fixed bug in 6.7.x, WTF was missing DHCP gateway

Control Center

New Features

  • Support SAML for authentication
  • Right click to paste for web CLI (HTML5)
  • Add managed device serial number, hostname, and description to Inventory report
  • Update Terminal button to support all connection options the same as SSH button
    • Terminal button now supports HTML5 browser connection option
  • Support "layer 4" port for IP Filters

Improvements

  • Updated Linux Operating System for Security Patches
    • Over 200 RPM updates
  • Terminal Application: allow configurable connect timeout

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed bug in 6.7.x where factory reset LM and point back to CC losing all port configuration

Known Issues

Local Manager

  • LM80/LM83X: Some SFPs no longer work in v6.7.x and 6.8.x
    • FS.com SFP-GB-GE-T, Cisco GLC-T (copper 1G)
  • LM4: Some USB 3.0 cables are not compatible with the LM4 USB-A 2.0 ports.
    • Use a USB 2.0 cable if any issues are encountered.

Control Center

  • CVE-2025-32728
    • Low risk; Work around: to ensure X11Forwarding is disabled, also disable AllowAgentForwarding.
      • as root: vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config; uncomment and set: AllowAgentForwarding no
    • Error during upgrade: ‘Error: GPG check FAILED’
      • Should only affect customers deployed before 6.3.x
      • Contact support team for work around
