Using Batch Mode¶
Batch Mode allows you to perform multiple operations in a row on one or more devices. Operations are performed in the following order:
- Upgrading firmware
- Uploading to the file system (IOT devices only)
- Provisioning and registering (on supported devices)
- Updating configuration
Before Performing Batch Operations¶
Each operation has different tasks that need to be done before the operation. See the following sections for what must be done before performing the related batch mode operation:
- Upgrading firmware
- Uploading to the file system
- Provisioning and registering
- Updating configuration using one file for all selected devices
- Updating configuration using one file for each selected device
Performing Batch Operations¶
- Click Provision on the side menu.
- Select one or more devices. They must all be the same type of device (for example, all SLB devices).
- Click Batch Mode.
- You will now see the firmware upgrade screen. If you want to upgrade firmware, provide the required information and click Next or press Enter. See Upgrading Firmware for more information. If you do not want to upgrade firmware, click Skip. If you want to cancel Batch Mode operations, click Cancel.
- If you selected IOT devices, you will see the file system upload screen; if you did not select IOT devices, skip to the next step. If you want to upload a file to the file system, provide the required information and click Next or press Enter. See Uploading to the File System for more information. If you do not want to upload to the file system, click Skip. If you want to cancel Batch Mode operations, click Cancel.
- You will now see the Project Import screen. If you want to import devices into the ConsoleFlow project, provide the required information and click Next or press Enter. See Importing a Device with Project Import for more information. If you do not want to import devices, click Skip. If you want to cancel Batch Mode operations, click Cancel.
- If the selected device supports provisioning and registering, you will now see the automatic device registration screen. If it does not support provisioning and registering, skip to the next step. If you want to provision and register devices, provide the required information and click Next or press Enter. See Provisioning and Registering for more information. If you do not want to provision and register devices, click Skip. If you want to cancel Batch Mode operations, click Cancel.
- Lastly, you will see the configuration update screen. If you want to update configuration, provide the required information and click Finish or press Enter. See Updating Configuration for more information. If you do not want to update configuration, click Skip & Finish. If you want to cancel Batch Mode operations, click Cancel.
Check the Operation Status and Progress columns to see the progress of the batch process. These columns will reflect the most recent step of the batch process. For example, if you are performing a firmware upgrade and an upload to the file system, when they are completed, the success message will refer to the file system update because it was the more recent operation.
What happens if an operation fails?
If an operation fails, batch mode will stop, and any further operations that were selected will not be performed.
