Upgrading Firmware¶
Upgrade the firmware of one or more devices using Lantronix Provisioning Manager.
SLC, SLB, and EMG devices have two boot banks, an active bank and an inactive bank. A firmware upgrade applies to the inactive bank. After updating, the device reboots with the newly updated bank active.
Before Upgrading¶
Do the following before performing the upgrade procedure.
- Configure SFTP/FTP Settings if working with REM devices.
- If using an external SFTP/FTP server, store the firmware file on the server in the folder specified in Path in Settings.
- Obtain the MD checksum of the firmware file if working with REM devices.
- Ensure you have the correct and valid firmware file.
- Ensure the credentials are set properly in Lantronix Provisioning Manager. See Important Information on Device Credentials for more information.
Upgrade Procedure¶
To upgrade the firmware of one or more devices:
- Click Provision on the side menu.
- Select one or more devices to upgrade. They must all be the same type of device (for example, all SLB devices).
- Click Update > Firmware.
- For REM devices, choose whether to reboot the device after the update using the checkbox. This option is not available on IOT devices.
- If using the SFTP server built in to Lantronix Provisioning Manager or working with IoT devices, click Upload Firmware File and select the firmware file. If using an external SFTP/FTP server, type or paste the name of the firmware file in the field.
- If the Enter Firmware file key field is present, provide the MD checksum of the firmware file. This field will not appear for some devices.
- Click Update or press Enter to begin the update. While the device is rebooting, connectivity is disrupted.
Check the Operation Status and Progress columns to see the progress of the firmware upgrade.
