Obtain Device Credentials

Ensure you know the credentials for any devices you plan to use with Lantronix Provisioning Manager. See Important Information on Device Credentials for more information.

Install an SFTP or FTP Server for REM Devices

Note

An SFTP or FTP server is only necessary when working with remote environment management devices.

Firmware and configuration files are transferred to SLC, SLB, and EMG devices using a Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) or File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server. Lantronix Provisioning Manager can act as an FTP server or can use an external server.

Using Lantronix Provisioning Manager as the server is recommended if the firmware and configuration files are stored on the same computer that runs Lantronix Provisioning Manager.

Using an external server is recommended if the firmware and configuration files are stored on a different computer or if multiple computers will be using Lantronix Provisioning Manager.

To use an external server, one must be installed and configured before using Lantronix Provisioning Manager.
